The Toyota Hilux dominated the bakkie sales charts this April, moving an incredible 2,780 units.
While slightly less than the 2,923 units it sold in March, the Hilux still has an enormous lead over its competitors.
In contrast, the second-best performer was the Ford Ranger with 1,728 sales, meaning the Hilux has a lead of over 1,000 units from the runner-up.
After this came the Isuzu D-Max with 1,108 units, which brought it back down from second to its regular spot as the nation’s third favourite bakke.
Next up is the Mahinda Pik Up, which turned in a solid performance with 654 units landing it in fourth.
Fifth place, on the other hand, saw a big change with the Nissan Navara dropping down to seventh with the GWM P-Series taking its place.
The GWM sold a total of 497 units, marking a considerable improvement from the 402 examples it moved in March.
The Toyota Land Cruiser 79, meanwhile, is comfortably sitting in sixth with 417 units, while the aforementioned Navara had 293 customers.
Another unchanged entry is the VW Amarok, which parted ways with 254 units last month, landing it in eighth.
Interestingly, the Foton Tunland G7 held onto ninth place in April thanks to 212 new buyers, and the Peugeot Landtrek managed to grab the final slot in the top 10 with 100 units.
In total, the top 10 bakkies sold 8,043 units, representing 18.9% of all the vehicles purchased in South Africa in April.
