New Foton bakkie launched in South Africa – Pricing and features

Foton has launched a new single cab 4×4 specification for the Tunland G7 in South Africa.

The Chinese automaker launched in our market exactly one year ago today, and is marking the occasion by introducing several new models across its commercial vehicle range.

This includes the new 4×4 version of the Tunland Hi Rider Single Cab, which has only been available in rear-wheel-drive up till this point.

According to our sources at Duporta Vehicle Information Specialists, the new Tunland has a starting price of R419,900, making it the third cheapest option in the lineup.

Engine

Every model in the Tunland G7 range is fitted with a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which produces 120kW and 390Nm.

The single cab units are exclusively sold with a six-speed manual gearbox and achieve an average fuel consumption of 8.0l/100km.

They are also certified to tow up to 3,000kg, while the load bed can accommodate 1,100kg.

Notably, the 4×4 version has a rear differential lock.

Regarding its dimensions, the Foton is 5,340mm long, 1,940mm wide, and 1,870mm tall with 210mm of ground clearance.

Features

The new Hi Rider 4×4 has an near-identical spec sheet to the rear-wheel-drive version, which includes 17-inch alloy wheels, electric side mirrors, electric windows, LED fog lamps, and central locking.

It also comes with a multifunction steering wheel, push-button start, fabric seats, automatic air conditioning, two speakers, two USB ports, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Additionally, the bakkie has ABS, cruise control, rear parking sensors, and two front airbags.

The South African pricing for the updated Foton Tunland G7 series is as follows:

The single cab units are sold with a 3-year/100,000km warranty, with a service plan being an optional extra.

The double cab, on the other hand, receives a 5-year/200,000km warranty and a 3-year/50,000km service plan.
